The Rotary Club of Kyadondo has embarked on a transformative journey in collaboration with Miti Conservatory Limited to protect, manage, and preserve Miti Village’s 300-acre triple land-use system in Mpatta Sub County, Mukono. This initiative aligns with Rotary’s core values and the areas of focus, particularly in environmental conservation and community economic development.

The Vision Behind Miti Village

The overarching goal of the Miti Conservatory is to integrate natural forest systems with sustainable livelihoods. Through its Environment Conservation and Livelihoods Initiative, Miti Village aims to preserve its ecological wealth while uplifting the surrounding community.
 

This project is a stellar example of what partnerships can achieve when united for a common cause. Among the many partners contributing to this vision are:

Key Activities and Milestones

Rotary Club of Kyadondo, alongside its partners, has adopted a long-term strategy to enhance the conservation and livelihood outcomes for Miti Village. The main projects under this initiative include:

1. Tree Planting Drives

Thousands of seedlings are being planted to restore forest cover and promote environmental sustainability. The involvement of Greensteds High School in this effort has been instrumental in nurturing a culture of conservation among young people.

2. Kabanga Sanitation Project

Addressing sanitation challenges in Kabanga Town has been a priority. The project focuses on providing clean and safe facilities for residents, improving their quality of life.

3. Community Engagement

Stakeholder meetings, workshops, and fellowships ensure that the project aligns with the community’s needs and aspirations. The inclusive approach fosters local ownership and sustainability of the initiatives.
